Section Title

Ronan Murphy-Coghlan researches and operationalises progressive civic infrastructures to support 21st-century socio-economic models that are equitable, sustainable, and resilient.

His work focuses on the development of alternative financial systems, energy commons, and participatory governance frameworks to enable the scaling of progressive economic paradigms.

With Climate Action Leeds, Ronan has led the design and delivery of a Community Wealth Building programme in collaboration with Unite Community – Leeds, York and Wakefield, aligning local organising with broader structural change.

His wider work, via positions at the University of Essex and start-ups, includes monetary theory, the evolving nature of power in the context of climate breakdown, transformative systems design, and the role of narrative in shaping more inclusive and representative models of political and economic organisation.

Until December 2025, Ronan worked in partnership with Emilie Tricarico, an ecological economist who focused on delivering a just transition in the "work & economy" sector.
