Join our new training network!

Our Future Leeds - as part of our work with the Climate Action Leeds programme - is looking for keen individuals to join our new trainers network. Would you like to be part of a new team, offering education and training opportunities to people across Leeds, to support our vision of a zero carbon, nature friendly, socially just Leeds?

Our world faces increasing threats and challenges; if we’re going to respond effectively to the climate crisis, we’re going to need new skills. Our training network will play a key role in building capacity and effectiveness through workshops, training, and other education experiences for individuals and groups across Leeds.

We can offer:

  • A “Training the trainers” event to help you develop your skills in participatory workshop design and delivery

  • Membership of a network of other trainers committed to delivering effective workshops

  • Regular and dedicated support in planning agendas, organising workshops and identifying areas for personal development

  • A commitment to helping you build confidence and skills, including pairing facilitators with different knowledge and experiences

  • Opportunities to engage with a diverse range of people and groups across Leeds

You don’t need to have experience in training or workshop delivery but some experience of the climate movement - or another social justice movement, community organising, or other activism - would be helpful. A commitment to working with diverse groups to deliver engaging and empowering training workshops to support and sustain climate action across Leeds is essential.

We would like to hear from people who:

  • Are based in or near Leeds

  • Want to develop their own facilitation and workshop delivery skills alongside others

  • Are keen to work alongside Out Future Leeds staff and other volunteers to deliver effective, participatory workshops for our growing network of community hubs and action groups.

  • Are committed to helping Leeds respond to the climate crisis in ways that are empowering and community-focused.

  • Able to offer between 2 and 5 hours of volunteering time a month, as well as occasional full day weekend meetings and training sessions.

Sounds great! What do I do next?

The initial step for joining the network is to apply to join our Train the Trainers weekend, which will take place on the 2nd and 3rd July (venue tbc, but will be in Leeds). Please use this form to register your interest in attending this event. The training for trainers will be delivered by an experienced facilitator from Seeds for Change, and will explore developing and delivering participatory workshops, facilitating good communication in groups, understanding different learning styles, and other key skills. We will provide a veggie/vegan lunch and can pay reasonable travel costs. Please let us know if there are other things you need to be able to access the event and we will do our best to make arrangements.
