This one day practical course will introduce you to the construction and use of swales as a method of water management.

The workshop will be delivered at LPN's demonstation site, Bedford Fields Community Forest Garden.

Swales are on contour ditches that trap water and are really useful on sloping sites to prevent run off and supply water to the plant root zone.

The workshop will provide an opportunity to participate in the contruction of a section of swales, creating ditches and retaining fascines (brash bundles that are pegged in along the swale.

Clothing

Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and bring waterproofs.
