Global Perspectives: Climate Change Insights from Around the World
Join us to hear from Leeds residents with connections to other nations, so efforts on climate action in our city can learn from people living overseas.
Time & Location
17 Jul 2025, 17:30 – 19:30
Imagine Leeds: the climate action hub, 9 Blenheim Ter, Woodhouse, Leeds LS2 9HZ, UK
About the Event
Leeds is blessed to have people with heritage from all over the world. However, conversations about climate change - both locally and nationally - can fail to reflect the diversity of our population, or see climate issues purely from a UK perspective.
At this informal gathering, speakers will share insights from living overseas, visiting family and friends in the countries of their heritage, and messages they have received from relatives.
Listening and discussion will tell us more about the impact of, and responses to, climate change in other nations. It will also help us highlight connections between Leeds and places which are geographically far away, reminding us that the damage - but also solutions - of climate change are truly international.
So far, speakers include: Claude Hendrickson MBE (Climate Action Leeds), Dr Pedi Obani (Bradford University and Afrikindness), and Alia Nessa (CEO, Asha Neighbourhood Project). Refreshments will be provided.
