About the Event

What are the challenges and opportunities facing businesses in this turbulent future?

How can we reconcile calls for inclusion with environmental regeneration?

Who will benefit most from innovating to face the future?

Doughnut Economics, a new economic model fit for the 21st Century, can answer these questions and provide the inspiration, awareness and means to transform your business.

Join us for this introductory session to discover more.

The Leeds Doughnut Economics Coalition have a vision for Leeds to be a city that seeds a future in which everyone can thrive; our businesses have a vital contribution to make to this, one that demands deep innovation.

We are at the forefront of applying this new economic model, the first city in the UK to have created a Doughnut City Portrait to provide a snapshot of Leeds across four areas – local social life, local nature, our impact on the planet, and people worldwide.

This approach provides a new way of seeing and being what we have missed: the essential social foundation on which everything is built and the planet's safe operating space for humanity.

It's a model that reconciles social issues, such as inclusivity and diversity, with environmental concerns in a just manner locally and globally.

In our session, we'll introduce Doughnut Economics and the Leeds Doughnut City Portrait findings.

The hour will also include:

  • What the model shows us about inclusive growth
  • How innovation is fundamental to creating our future
  • How the Leeds Doughnut Economic Coalition, and the national Doughnut Economic Action Lab (DEAL), can help businesses transform their business model.

This session will be brought to you by entrepreneurs, researchers and professionals from the Leeds Doughnut Economics Coalition, part of Climate Action Leeds.

Who is the session for?

Business people, leaders, managers and specialists with an interest in social and environmental issues, concerns about climate change, the wellbeing of society and all those planning for the long term.
