About the Event
This reading group will explore Joanna Macy's "Active Hope: How to Face the Mess We’re in with Unexpected Resilience & Creative Power" over a number of weeks.
It can be paralysing to think about the mess our world is in - so we often remain silent. The authors of this compelling book argue that the ‘greatest danger of our times is the deadening of our responses’, and instead they offer us a way to face our situation with unexpected resilience and creative power.
Join our book group to explore Active Hope together. Our hope is that reading it together will help each of us to strengthen and support our intentions to act so that we can each play our part in the healing of the world.
The book group has limited numbers. The sessions will take place at the Climate Action Leeds City Hub, LS1 5ES from 7-9pm on:
- Tuesday 4 April - (introductory session)
- Monday 24 April
- Monday 8 May
- Monday 22 May
- Monday 12 June
- Monday 26 June
- Monday 10 July
There is also an invitation, in the weeks between the Book Group meetings, to join with another participant either in person or online, to explore a simple conversation from the book together. You don’t have to do this to participate in the Book Group.
