About the Event
Climate Action Leeds & Otley 2030 are hosting a series of workshops on Sunday 2nd April at Otley Courthouse on the theme of ‘locally rooted action in response to climate change’. Participants can choose to attend for the whole day or just for one workshop - you can sign up for your FREE tickets on Eventbrite here.
Workshops cover core themes for both Climate Action Leeds’ & Otley 2030’s work, including community energy, active travel & climate justice, and work and economy. Local volunteers will share their current work on developing Otley Community Larder & creating the Otley Nature Recovery Plan.
There will be workshops outside in the courtyard too: throughout the morning come along to get your bike fixed & in the afternoon build a bat box for East Wood - which has just been secured as a community woodland.
The keynote workshop from 1.15-2.15pm is on Doughnut Economics. This is a visual framework for sustainable development – shaped like a doughnut or lifebelt – combining the concept of planetary boundaries with the complementary concept of boundaries that uphold social justice - and how this is being applied at a citywide & community level in Leeds.
Representatives from Climate Action Leeds & Otley 2030 will be available throughout the day to chat & there will be information stalls about a whole range of climate related themes, what is taking place in Leeds & how you can get involved.
Light refreshments can be purchased in the Courthouse cafe throughout the day. There will be a lunch break 12.45-1.45pm during which attendees are welcome bring a packed lunch or visit one of the local cafes.
Places on workshops are limited, so booking is essential. Book your workshops on Eventbrite here.
